Cole Hamels may be the most sought-after pitching trade target this offseason since the Phillies are looking to shed payroll. He had a great 2014 season and many teams are hoping he can continue that success in their uniform. While he's not guaranteed to be dealt this winter, here are the five teams most likely to land him.

If the Giants miss out on Pablo Sandoval, which it seems like they're going to, they're going to need to make another splash this offseason. That could come by trading for Hamels. They have a relatively strong farm system in terms of pitching and could put together a package that would land the lefty.

Suddenly, after their bold trade for Jason Heyward, the Cardinals are looking like the winners of the winter so far. If they are willing to ship another young pitcher for Hamels, they could be even bigger winners. Pitching in the No. 2 spot behind ace Adam Wainwright, Hamels could be effective for a World Series-caliber team.

It's a scary thought, but the Dodgers could realistically land the ace to add to their collection. A top three of Kershaw, Greinke and Hamels would be absolutely insane. They have the prospects to do it, but does new general manager Andrew Friedman have the guts to pull it off?

2. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs were the first team to make a serious run at Hamels during last season when they claimed him off waivers. However, they couldn't get a deal done then. The Phillies' asking price is too high as of right now, but if they come down and the Cubs miss out on Lester, the teams could resume talks and strike up a deal. Chicago has more than enough prospects to get it done.

The Red Sox are making waves as of late. They seem like the favorites to land Pablo Sandoval and Jon Lester, and they could also add Hamels to the rotation. By giving up a couple high-end hitting prospects, they could land Hamels and become contenders again in 2015.
