From 1983 to 2007, the Brewers put some horrific products on the field. There was so much losing and only a handful of winning records over a span of 24 seasons. Still, the Milwaukee fan base continued to support the Brewers despite only reaching the playoffs twice after losing the World Series in 1982. The awesome fan base continues to support the team, which hopefully will allow management to put a contender together.

Everyone references ’82 as the No. 1 season in Brewers history. Yes, reaching the World Series was fantastic, but 2011 is a year Milwaukee should be thankful for. The ’11 season proved that the modern day Brewers could contend with the other teams in the National League. It showed everyone what the organization is capable of accomplishing when the right pieces fall into place. Despite losing the NLCS to the Cardinals, it was a magical season.

Ryan Braun should be on this list, but his use of performance-enhancing drugs and suspension put the organization in a bad light. Enter catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who gave the fans a standup guy to cheer for after the dark period they endured. Lucroy is quickly becoming one of the best catchers in the game, offensively and defensively. Finishing fourth in NL MVP voting in 2014 is a mere stepping stone to what he can accomplish going forward.

Principal owner Mark Attanasio is considered the savior of the Brewers. Despite having one of the smaller net worths among MLB owners, he still manages to field a competitive team year after year. Since becoming owner in 2005, the Brewers have experienced only four losing seasons. Attanasio is responsible for making the Brewers watchable again. With him as the owner, fans always feel their team has a shot to win.

The legendary Bob Uecker has been calling play-by-play for the Brewers’ radio broadcasts since 1971. Despite the numerous career opportunities that have been presented to him over the years, he has still made sure to always remain a part of the Brewers team. For that reason alone, he deserves the respect of the players and fans. Uecker is just as much Brewers baseball as any famous player who stepped on the field in Milwaukee.
