The New York Yankees made some big splashes last season to bolster their lineup. Thanks to injuries and general ineffectiveness, it was a rough season. For the first time since 1995, Derek Jeter will not be in their opening day lineup. This will look like a totally different Yankee team. Here is their 2015 opening day lineup (hopefully).

Jacoby Ellsbury was the Yankees' big-time acquisition last offseason. He needs to hit much better if he is going to continue to play in the leadoff spot. Hitting .271 is not good enough. When he gets on base, he is a nightmare thanks to his wheels. He will be given the chance to take the leadoff spot to start the season.

Brett Gardner could be the guy who eventually steals the leadoff spot from Ellsbury. He is one of the fastest players in the league. His power numbers have been on the rise, but his speed numbers have gone down. Instead of being a five-HR and 45-steal guy, he is closer to 15 and 25, respectively. He gets on base a lot, but he needs to hit for a better average as well.

3. RF Carlos Beltran

It isn't usual that your outfielders take up the first three spots in the lineup, but that is how the Yankees' lineup appears to be shaping out like. Carlos Beltran just couldn't stay on the field after signing a three-year deal with the Yankees last offseason. Beltran should be able to bounce back in 2015 as long as he stays healthy.

Brian McCann had a rough first season outside of Atlanta. His statistics showed that he needed time to get used to the American League. He did hit eight home runs in September, showing that he hit his power stride at the end.

Mark Teixeira is one player who nobody knows exactly what to of expect this season. He can bounce back if he can put a full season together. His .216 average in 2014 was by far the worst of his career, but he still has one of the best power bats in the lineup.

6. 3B Chase Headley

Chase Headley was just brought back to New York on a four-year deal. He hit .262 and got on base an astonishing 37 percent of the time since joining the Yankees midseason. If he can continue that momentum this season, then the Yankees made a very good signing.

7. 2B Martin Prado

Martin Prado is the forgotten member of the Yankees' infield. After hitting five home runs with Arizona in 106 games, he hit seven with the Yankees in 37. Who knows which Prado the Yankees will get this season, but he will be an upgrade of who was at second base last year.

8. DH Alex Rodriguez

He's back. Nobody is excited to see Alex Rodriguez back in baseball. Unfortunately for the Yankees, they don't have a choice. He will be in the lineup opening day. How much he contributes is another story.

9. SS Didi Gregorious

Didi Gregorius was not brought into New York for his hitting ability. The fact is, he is a vacuum at short stop, so he will definitely save more runs than he provides. Don't expect him to find himself much higher in the lineup than last.
