5 Players the New York Yankees Should Still Be Looking to Trade

5 Yankees Who Should Get Traded

The New York Yankees are going into 2015 with some obvious flaws they need to take care of. They still don't have a second baseman after Martin Prado was traded. Many in their lineup are extremely injury prone, so there needs to be better backups in the outfield and at first base. They could also use an upgrade at starter. Here are five players who could be put into deals.

This is totally wishful thinking for Yankees fans. He can be traded for a bag of balls. Heck, the Yankees will send a bag of balls for a team to take him off their hands. The only slim possibility would be for him to go to Miami since they are trying to revitalize their team again.

If you take out two back-to-back terrible starts, Chase Whitley did not allow more than four runs in any start. He wasn't great, but there is something there to work on. There is no room in the current rotation, so he should be flipped for maybe a better relief pitcher.

3. Gary Sanchez

Gary Sanchez is still one of the best catching prospects in baseball. He should be the centerpiece for a deal to bring a top-of-the-rotation pitcher to the team. He is a prospect who would be coveted by most teams. The Yankees cannot use him since they have Brian McCann for the next four years.

2. Austin Romine

Austin Romine is a once-great catching prospect who has not amounted to much in New York. He seriously needs a change of scenery to get another shot. After the trade of Francisco Cervelli to the Pirates, he still would have to hop over J.R. Murphy just to get backup duty. It would be better for Romine to go to another team for an outfield prospect the Yankees could try to develop.

Ivan Nova will still have some time to recover from his Tommy John Surgery, so there is probably some hoops to jump through before he can be moved. When Nova comes back, he should be used as a trade asset. The rotation seems like it only needs top guys. They don't need another fourth or fifth starter since they already have Chris Capuano and Nathan Eovaldi.
