The Chicago White Sox will be opening the 2015 MLB season on the road against the Kansas City Royals. Apr. 6 can't get here fast enough for White Sox fans, and for good reason. Here are five things they have to be excited for on Opening Day.

Paul Konerko's last home series was overshadowed by Kansas City clinching its first playoff berth in almost three decades. Konerko was incredibly classy about it, congratulating the Royals in his goodbye speech to the fans. Regardless, KC was hopping around on the field and stealing the spotlight. A little payback on opening day could feel nice.

While it stinks that Chris Sale won't be available, Samardzija is one heck of a plan B to start on Opening Day. It will be fun for fans to get an immediate look at their new strikeout specialist.

Along with Samardzija, Adam LaRoche, Melky Cabrera, David Robertson, Emilio Bonifacio and Zach Duke are also very nice upgrades to the lineup. New faces are always interesting to watch, but this many quality upgrades is really something to be excited about.

The White Sox have put together two losing seasons in a row and haven't made the playoffs since 2008. With a revamped lineup, the team is more than equipped to compete again. Chicago gets to hit the ground running in the first game of the season with an important matchup against another contender for the AL Central.
