Ranking 15 Best New Foods at MLB Ballparks

I'm sure you already have your own personal favorite ballpark food, but after reading this list, you might reconsider. MLB teams, and a couple of their Minor League affiliates, stepped up their grub game more than ever in 2015. With perhaps the best collection of new food items all around baseball that we've seen in years, I ranked the 15 latest and greatest from worst (but still really good) to first.

15. Chicken and Waffle Cone – Houston Astros

Chicken, mashed potatoes, a waffle cone, honey mustard drizzle. There’s no way this combination won’t end up tasting delicious. Maybe the Chicken and Waffle Cone is the secret to José Altuve’s improbably success?

14. Chicken Taco Salad - Boston Red Sox

For me, I don’t go to baseball games and even consider ordering a salad. The Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park have thrown a wrench in my decision making with their latest creation. A salad where the bowl is fried? Looks like I might be eating “healthy” after all.

13. Bacon and Sriracha Deviled Eggs – Detroit Tigers

Bacon and eggs is a classic. The thick of slice of bacon that Comerica Park is offering is already good enough, but three Sriracha deviled eggs on top? I have finally found a reason to want to go to Detroit.

12. Sweenie Donut Dog – Wilmington Blue Rocks

It’s not an easy task for Minor League teams to fill their stadiums, but the Wilmington Blue Rocks may have found a solution. Using donuts as the bun for sandwiches and burgers has become a popular move in recent years. The Blue Rocks didn’t think that was good enough, so they stuffed some bacon in between. Because why not?

11. The Thomenator – Cleveland Indians

Named after Cleveland Indians legend Jim Thome, the Thomenator is a hot dog worthy of Hall of Fame consideration. Not only is this monster dog topped with loads of sauerkraut and diced onions, there are three delicious pierogies added to the mix. Yes please.

10. Steak and Cheese Dog – Kansas City Royals

The Royals and Kauffman Stadium combined two of the greatest things on Earth – a hot dog and a Philly cheese steak sandwich. A simple and perfect creation if I may say so myself.

9. Churro Dog – Arizona Diamondbacks

I’m so torn on how I feel about the churro dog. There’s a 100-percent chance I will feel sick and might vomit after eating it, but there’s a 100-percent chance that I order it and eat the whole thing if I go to Chase Field.

8. Parmesan Garlic Waffle Fries – Chicago White Sox

Garlic fries might already be the best ballpark food in existence, and the White Sox somehow managed to improve the San Francisco classic. Adding Parmesan cheese and an “herb glaze,” while substituting regular fries for the waffle version, was a brilliant move by U.S. Cellular Field and the South Siders.

7. Cuban Pretzel Dog – Pittsburgh Pirates

Do you like foot-long hot dogs? Do you like Cuban sandwiches? If you answered no to either of those questions, there might be something wrong with you. You also don’t deserve to eat PNC Park’s greatest creation.

6. Taco Dog – Colorado Rockies

When you think of ballpark foods, the first thing to instantly come to mind is a hot dog. The Rockies have kicked it up a notch by offering a chorizo dog with cheese, lettuce, and pico de gallo piled high.

5. Heart Attack Burger – Kane Country Cougars

Two grilled cheese sandwiches serving as the bun for a bacon and egg cheeseburger. How have I not thought of this?

4. Big Mother Funnel Burger – Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Donut bacon cheeseburgers are nothing special anymore, so the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers set out to turn some heads. This funnel cake bacon cheeseburger will certainly do the trick. This monster will set you back $20 and contains about 3,500 calories. Try not to eat for a whole day before and after consuming this perfectly named burger.

3. Nacho on a Stick – Milwaukee Brewers

Nachos are a ballpark classic, but they can get a little messy, especially if you’re near all the jostling that goes on in the bleachers. Hitting Miller Park this season is a stick of beef -- loaded with refried beans, rolled in Doritos, and then deep fried and drizzled with sour cream and cheese. This is not a joke people.

2. Fried S’mOreo – Texas Rangers

I’d be willing to spend way too much money on this, but luckily the Fried S’mOreo will cost "only" eight dollars at Rangers games in 2015. The genius creation is a marshmallow breaded in deep fried graham cracker crust, placed between two deep-fried Oreos. In the words of the great Liz Lemon, “I want to go to there.”

If you don’t like chicken and waffles, there’s a very good chance we aren’t and won't ever be friends. Here we have a breaded chicken sandwich with waffles as the bun and maple bacon gravy. Seriously? I just became a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.
