Since they’re located in a big city, are a historic franchise and have a lot of star power, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the focus of a lot of attention in MLB. They’re subject to unnecessary praise as well as scrutiny. Here are five overreactions their fans and the rest of the country have had over this team over the first week of the season.

5. Team Made Way Too Many Trades

The Dodgers were extremely active in the trade market this offseason, acquiring players like Jimmy Rollins and Howie Kendrick while getting rid of players such as Dee Gordon and Matt Kemp. Since the team hasn't started off great, these trades could be called into question. But more games need to be played before those trades are evaluated.

4. Lineup Worse Without Matt Kemp

Piggybacking off of the "too many trades" idea, many probably believe this lineup is suffering without Matt Kemp in it. Right now, it's certainly not as good as it was with him, but some young players need to some time to acclimate themselves. Therefore, shipping Kemp off could actually end up benefitting them in the long run.

3. Joc Pederson is Overrated

Part of the reason the Dodgers felt they were able to trade Kemp was because they had one of the top prospects in all of baseball, outfielder Joc Pederson, coming up through the minor leagues. While he's hitting a respectable .286, he hasn't shown anything elite yet. He also strikes out a lot. With more time, possibly a couple full seasons, we will all see Pederson's true colors.

2. Dodgers Not An Elite Team

Since they're not at the top of the standings, even though the season is only a week old, some people are going to say the Dodgers aren't elite anymore. Those people would be wrong. This team has a ton of talent and is one of a couple pennant favorites in the National League. Like any other team, they will go through their slumps, but they should be able to rebound from a lukewarm start.

1. Clayton Kershaw Isn't His Old Self

Through two starts, Clayton Kershaw has a 5.84 ERA and everyone is ready to panic. This guy has already won multiple Cy Young awards by the time he was 27 years old and is already a top 10 lefty of all time. Unless there's a nagging injury messing with his mechanics, he will get back to his dominant ways sooner rather than later.
