5 Completely Ironic MLB Walk-Up Songs of 2015

The walk-up song is a proud MLB tradition. Up to 15 seconds of heart-pounding rock (think “Enter Sandman”) to get the batter pumped up as he steps up to the plate. At least, that was the original intention. Come 2015, the walk-up song has entered the age of irony. Here are five walk-up songs that don’t quite match up with the Metallica expectations.

Josh Reddick – Careless Whisper by George Michael

The Oakland A’s Reddick has had a rough start to the season with injuries and family drama. Does he feel his best days are behind him? Will he ever dance again?

Robbie Ross – Radioactive by Imagine Dragons

Welcome to the new age, Robbie Ross. Not quite, starting yet, even with the Red Sox?

Alex Rodriguez – Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey

Is A-Rod begging fans to come back after his 2014 suspension? Judging by the lack of celebration planned for the upcoming 660 milestone, New York isn’t quite believing.

Freddie Freeman – Chandelier by Sia

It’s hard to contain Braves power hitter Freeman in 2015. Yes, he swings for the Chandeliers. Not so sure about the, “1, 2, 3 1, 2, 3 drink” chorus of Sia’s melancholy hit.

Tony Sanchez – Let it Go from Frozen

Sanchez is courting the playground set with this choice. Too bad he’s back in the minors three weeks into the season.
