Colorado Rockies Who Should Be on the Trading Block Right Now

The Colorado Rockies have done a wonderful job building an offensive juggernaut, but that's not going to get them anywhere playing in Coors Field. Everyone's numbers spike at Coors Field because of the thin air. Instead, the Rockies need to build a pitching staff of swing and miss pitchers in order to keep their opponents' scoring under control. It's time to trade in the offense for a brand new rotation.

The Rockies can't find room for a catcher who hit an average of 22 home runs and had a batting average of .275 from 2012-14. I understand that he is not a stellar defensive catcher, but there has to be a trade partner, possibly in the American League, that can use a hitter like Rosario in their lineup.

4. John Axford

The Rockies aren't headed anywhere this season with the tough NL West. Therefore, the team doesn't have any need for veteran closer John Axford. Axford would be a nice trade piece for a playoff contending team. As a veteran, Axford holds no value on a team that will more than likely enter a rebuilding phase within the next year, and he would possibly bring in a nice return for the Rockies.

This is the final year in Justin Morneau's contract and it would behoove the Rockies to trade him and get something of value for him. Morneau is heading towards the twilight of his career, but he still has enough left to be a productive bat for a team in a playoff run. Keeping Morneau for the entire season does nothing for a mediocre Rockies team.

Carlos Gonzalez has all the tools to be a top-five player in MLB, if he could just stay healthy. This is the first season in a while that "CarGo" seems to be healthy, for the most part. He has struggled out of the gates, but he still holds good value because of his potential. If the Rockies can find a trade partner, the team should unload him before he loses anymore worth.

Troy Tulowitzki is the best all-around shortstop in baseball when he is on the field. Tulo has had a multitude of injury issues in the past that have cost him the chance to reach his full potential. He has started this season off nicely, carrying a .299 batting average with two home runs and 10 RBIs. He is still 30 years old and would be the prize piece on the trade market. The Rockies should take the best offer available and begin their rebuild.
