The San Francisco Giants have hovered around the .500 mark for a bulk of the 2015 season, but aren’t a championship-caliber team as currently composed. Then again, an argument could be made that none of the Giants’ three World Series title winning teams were “championship-caliber.” The front office brass will be hard at work this summer, though, and roster adjustments are much needed.

The Giants’ third catcher has completely fallen by the wayside over recent weeks. Sanchez has received just four plate appearances in May, and hasn’t started a game since April 15. Tim Lincecum’s former personal backstop is now merely limited to a pinch-hit role off the bench. The Giants would be best suited to leverage the 24-year-old catcher as a trade chip in a packaged deal.

4. Jean Machi (RHP)

The Giants’ bullpen remains the club’s most well-rounded unit, but right-handed reliever Jean Machi has become a weak link. The plump veteran has seen his 4.86 ERA swell at a faster rate than his waistline this spring. Machi has allowed a whopping 41 percent of base runners to score. Still, he’s highly regarded by manager Bruce Bochy, and still boasts some trade value.

Petit was a rock out of the Giants’ bullpen in the 2014 postseason, logging a 1.42 ERA in 12.2 innings of work. But the 29-year-old journeyman could be the club’s most valuable trade chip out of the ‘pen, and could become expendable if both Matt Cain and Jake Peavy reclaim rotation spots off the disabled list. Although Petit offers plenty of value, he has seldom been used in 2015.

The Giants’ farm system is often dismissed as a low-grade enterprise that flaunts minimal big-league potential at best. Still, the Orange and Black consistently churn out talent at the highest level. Hunter Strickland might not entirely satisfy the definition of home grown, but did showcase some promise out of the Giants’ system last September, tossing seven shutout innings. Strickland doesn’t figure to claim a ‘pen spot, making him a trade chip.

As newcomer Casey McGehee continues to endure early-season struggles, the clamors for Adam Duvall become louder amongst the fanbase. But super utility-man Matt Duffy has been surprisingly productive at the dish, logging 15 RBIs in 74 at-bats. Duvall has bashed nine HRs while recording a .962 OPS at AAA-Sacramento, but a roster spot isn’t forthcoming, making Duvall an intriguing prospect for opposing teams.

Giants' Johnny Cueto Gets Nailed In Head With Line Drive

This was a rather bizarre situation. San Francisco Giants hurler Johnny Cueto was struck in the head by a line drive on his first pitch against Oakland on Monday. Instead of coming right out of the game to be examined, Cueto remained on the mound. After the game, he went to the hospital just to be safe. He's fine according to reports, but why Giants manager Bruce Bochy let him pitch is beyond me.
