5 New York Mets Who Must Be Dealt Before 2015 Trade Deadline

Although they’ve hit a bit of a rough patch in recent weeks, the New York Mets still sit atop the NL East. With the Washington Nationals making a strong push to take over, the Mets must make some moves before the trade deadline in order to remain competitive. Here are the five player the Mets should trade.

5. Anthony Recker

The Mets probably won’t get much in return for him, but hopefully by mid-season the Mets have both Travis d’Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki healthy and playing well. Obviously, Plawecki would be a great trade piece, but until d’Arnaud proves he’s the type of player we saw earlier this season, the Mets aren’t going to let go of another promising player.

4. Bobby Parnell

Parnell has become somewhat of the forgotten man in the Mets’ bullpen. He was supposed to regain the closer role from Jenrry Mejia when he was healthy, but now that Mejia is suspended and Juerys Familia is perfect in the ninth, Parnell may not get his old job back. Parnell still has some value as a late-inning reliever, and if he can ever regain his high-90s fastball, the Mets may get a good return.

3. Steven Matz

It’s tough to trade away a promising left-hander like Matz, but the Mets are proving to have a wealth of pitching. Yes, it works out well when a player gets injured (like in Zack Wheeler and Dillon Gee’s cases this year) but the Mets are in desperate need of a bat. An everyday player can make a bigger impact than a starter who can only help a team every fifth game.

2. Daniel Murphy

Dilson Herrera or Matt Reynolds is the future at second base. Murphy has been a great hitter throughout his career and an adequate fielder in recent years, but the Mets aren’t going to sign him to a long-term contract. He’s worthy of starting in the MLB and one team will pay him for that. Before the Mets lose him, it’s imperative that they get a key player, or prospects, in a trade.

1. Dillon Gee

He’s the man most mentioned in trade talks. He’s a reliable pitcher, yet he doesn’t have the potential of the other Mets’ young pitchers. New York could easily get a young position player in a trade for Gee. The Mets may not get a return player of the value that Murphy, Matz or another young pitcher might, however, he’s a proven vet and multiple teams could use him.

Yoenis Cespedes Leaves Spring Training In Unbelievable Vehicle

Just when we thought Yoenis Cespedes couldn't be any cooler, he shows up to spring training like a boss in this epic vehicle, which is apparently a motorized tricycle. The New York Mets outfielder is having a great time since re-signing with the club. If the swagger he's exuding this winter is in any way indicative of how he will play in 2016, the Mets are going to be in excellent shape.
