Ranking the New York Mets’ Starting Pitchers Through May

Going into 2015, the Mets had reason to believe their pitching staff would be their strength this season and that’s certainly been the case over the course of the season’s first two months. Here are each of the team’s five starters ranked on performance so far this year, including a letter grade.

5. LHP Jon Niese - B

3-5, 4.08 ERA. Niese has been a solid anchor at the back end of the rotation, but he hasn't looked elite as some of the other pitchers in this rotation. That's to be expected as he isn't an elite talent, but he's doing his job in the back end.

4. RHP Bartolo Colon - B

7-3, 4.82 ERA. Colon is an ageless wonder, over 40 years old and still producing at a high level. His win-loss record is misleading, but he's still finding ways to win games. With some other great pitchers in the rotation, that's all the Mets can really ask of a pitcher who is over the hill.

3. RHP Noah Syndergaard - B+

1-2, 3.63 ERA. Sydergaard is one of the top pitching prospects in baseball and he's already shown glimpses of his brilliance in his short time in the majors. One would think that as this season goes on, he should settle in and improve even further. If that happens, the Mets could have one of the best 1-3 groups in the game.

2. RHP Jacob deGrom - A-

5-4, 2.71 ERA. After winning the 2014 National League Rookie of the Year, deGrom is showing no signs of a sophomore slump. He's pitched like a borderline ace this season and is really establishing himself in the league. Once he starts getting more run support, his win total will go up as well.

1. RHP Matt Harvey - A-

5-2, 2.91 ERA. Coming off Tommy John surgery, Matt Harvey has been extremely impressive. He was the team's ace in 2013 when he burst onto the scene and he's re-established himself as the staff's ace in the first couple months of this season. He is the guy the Mets will look to when they have a game they have to win. Not many people have a player like him at their disposal.

Yoenis Cespedes Leaves Spring Training In Unbelievable Vehicle

Just when we thought Yoenis Cespedes couldn't be any cooler, he shows up to spring training like a boss in this epic vehicle, which is apparently a motorized tricycle. The New York Mets outfielder is having a great time since re-signing with the club. If the swagger he's exuding this winter is in any way indicative of how he will play in 2016, the Mets are going to be in excellent shape.
