5 Reasons Why David Price Should Sign With The Chicago Cubs

There is a good chance that the Chicago Cubs will be major players in free agency once again next offseason. Theo Epstein is looking to power the Cubs back towards postseason contention, and one player they could target is current Detroit Tigers star pitcher David Price. It would make sense for both parties, especially Price. Here are five reasons why Price should choose the Cubs when he hits the market this offseason.

While he has had a very solid first full season with the Detroit Tigers, there have been questions surrounding whether or not he is truly happy in his current situation. He is a key piece for the Tigers, but hasn't been having the type of fun that he did with Tampa Bay. Signing with the Chicago Cubs would bring that sense of fun back while still making him the ace of their rotation.

4. Reuniting With Joe Maddon

Joe Maddon and David Price were a deadly two-man team with the Tampa Bay Rays, and reuniting with the Chicago Cubs would be ideal for both parties. Maddon has already helped improve the Cubs this season, but bringing in his former ace would be a big step in the right direction. Being able to get back with a manager like Maddon would be a draw for any player, and Price would certainly fit nicely into the mix.

3. Form a Deadly Two-Man Wrecking Crew With Jon Lester

Jon Lester has yet to be the ace pitcher that the Chicago Cubs were hoping he would become, but it is still early on in his career with the team. Adding Price would put together two of the top pitchers in MLB, and they would feed off of each other. Anytime a star pitcher has a chance to join another star it is a major draw for them and would be deadly for opposing lineups.

2. Return To Fun Baseball

David Price has made it clear throughout his career that he wants to play for a winning team while having fun. Due to the Cubs having such a young roster, they have been having fun all season to this point. Joining them would help rejuvenate Price and get him back to playing the type of motivated baseball that he played with the Rays.

1. Chance To Break the Cubs' Curse

If David Price did choose to sign with the Chicago Cubs, he would immediately be their top pitcher and would be one of the main pieces in getting them back to the postseason. Winning a World Series with him as a No. 1 starter would cement his baseball legacy. That is a big part of the reason why Jon Lester chose to sign with Chicago, and it is a reason why Price should and will seriously consider it in free agency.
