5 Houston Astros Who Deserve 2015 MLB All-Star Game Consideration

The Houston Astros have been baseball’s most surprising story this season, as they lead the AL West just four weeks until the All-Star Game. There are several players responsible for the turnaround, but these five have been the most important, and that’s why they all warrant All-Star Game consideration.

5. LHP Joe Thatcher

1-1, 1.93 ERA The unconventional submarine lefty has been having a sensational season for Houston. Even though the team signed Luke Gregerson and Pat Neshek in the offseason, he's been better than both of them so far. Middle relievers don't get enough love when it comes to the All-Star game, so Thatcher needs to get some recognition.

4. RHP Will Harris

3-0, 0.87 ERA Speaking of dominant relievers, Harris has been the greatest reliever for Houston all season long. He's been lights out and is looking more like a closer than a sixth- or seventh-inning guy. The American League All-Star team would be lucky to have him in the bullpen.

.267 average, 10 HRs, 23 RBIs, 13 steals Springer is in just his second season in the major leagues, but he's already showing his multitude of talents. He hits for power and has speed, and that's not something many young players can say. For the excitement factor, he should be coming off the bench for the All-Star Game.

.290 average, 5 HRs, 28 RBIs, 17 steals Altuve is actually having on off year by his standards, but an off year for him is a pretty good year for anybody else. Since second base isn't a particularly strong position in the American League, Altuve would be a nice player to have coming off the bench.

1. LHP Dallas Keuchel

8-2, 2.04 ERA, 76 strikeouts Forget about being considered just for the All-Star Game, Keuchel should be considered as the starting pitcher for the American League based on the way he has pitched this season. He has really broken out, and would give the AL a great chance to win if he gets the ball for the Midsummer Classic.

Carlos Gomez Flips His Bat, Dabs After Clobbering Home Run

Houston Astros outfielder Carlos Gomez has never been known to bite his tongue or shy away from expressing his feelings on the baseball field. Thus, it should be a surprise to absolutely no one to see his antics after he clobbered a home run against the Atlanta Braves on Monday. Showing no regard for baseball's unwritten rules, Gomez flipped his bat and dropped an epic dab for all to enjoy (except for the Braves, that is).
