5 Seattle Mariners Who Deserve 2015 MLB All-Star Game Consideration

Many people thought the Seattle Mariners had a chance at winning the American League pennant this season, but they sure aren’t looking like a contender right now. Despite that, they’ve had several players put on good individual performances in the season’s first half. Here are five Mariners who deserve to be considered for inclusion in the 2015 All-Star Game.

5. LHP Charlie Furbush

0-1, 2.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP

Furbush has been one of the best lefty relievers in the game this season, as he has only allowed an average of two-thirds of a baserunner per inning. Without putting many runners on base, not many teams are going to score. Guess what: not many people have scored on Furbush this year.

4. RHP Carson Smith

1-2, 1.67 ERA, 0.78 WHIP

Carson Smith has been another great reliever for the Mariners this season, and while he doesn't have the same lights out stuff that Fernando Rodney does at the back end, he's been hit less hard than the closer. He's a smart pitcher who gets by with finesse, and there's something to be said about that.

3. 3B Kyle Seager

.275 average, 11 HRs, 36 RBIs, 14 doubles

After getting a huge contract this offseason, Seager is really performing at a high level. After Nelson Cruz, he's been the team's most productive hitter this season, and he deserves to be at least on the bench in the All-Star Game this July.

2. RHP Felix Hernandez

9-3, 3.38 ERA, 82 strikeouts

King Felix hasn't been as unhittable as he normally is this season, but his durability gets him and the Mariners more wins than other pitchers would. Being able to work deep into ballgames helps his team win, and once again, Felix Hernandez deserves to be honored at the All-Star Game.

.311 average, 18 HRs, 41 RBIs

When he went to the Mariners, who play at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field, many thought that Cruz's power numbers would go down. Boy, were those people wrong. Cruz has picked up right where he left off last season and is knocking the cover off the ball. He has really established himself as one of the premier power hitters in all of baseball.
