Dellin Betances the 2014 AL All-Star, began the season splitting closer duties with Andrew Miller, but the right-hander assumed full-time closer duties when Miller hit the shelf with a left flexor forearm strain since June 11.

A rare slip up in Saturday’s victory, Betances is now 5-1 in 2015 with seven saves, 11 holds and 68 strikeouts in 42.0 innings. As dominant as he’s been, he has appeared in 37 games, a year after making 70 appearances out of the ‘pen. In order to keep the New York native healthy, the first-place New York Yankees must rest Betances and use Adam Warren and Justin Wilson in the seventh and eighth.

Of his 37 games, 12 have been 1.0 inning-plus, including three of his last five appearances. Miller is expected to come off the disabled list next week, which should help stabilize the backend of the Bronx Bomber bullpen.

The team can also take a small gamble and bring back Joba Chamberlain to the Bronx. Chamberlain was designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers earlier this week. He went 0-2 in 30 games with a 4.09 ERA for the Tigers, but he would be better as a sixth-inning option and in mop-up duty as opposed to a setup role.

Nick Rumbelow has looked good in his short MLB debut season, two years after being drafted in the seventh round out of LSU. Bryan Mitchell has tallied six punchouts in 5.2 innings and provides a high-powered arm, but long reliever Chris Capuano looks to be near the end of his career with a 5.00 ERA.
