They are certainly planning for the future but also are well within reach of the division lead at the midpoint of the season. Here are five of the biggest rumors surrounding the Braves right now.

Recently the Braves moved a few minor league players to be able to sign an international prospect. Expect much more of this going forward as one of the areas the front office has clearly deemed important is the international market going forward.

The fallout surrounding Christian Bethancourt continues as word now suggests that the Braves are seeking young catchers to make a permanent part of the team right now. What this would mean for the struggling Bethancourt is unclear, but it seems obvious that the current office staff is not nearly as high on the young catcher as the previous GM was.

It seems like the best bonus in the baseball world right now that the center fielder for the Braves is a key component for the team and is overachieving what anyone thought he would do. Some have assumed this makes Maybin a trade chip for the Braves, but with control through 2016 and a 2017 team option, they might want to keep him around for a while.

2. Still Trying to Trade Chris Johnson

With the addition of Juan Uribe, former everyday third baseman Chris Johnson has become someone the Braves are desperately seeking to trade. The problem with that currently is that there have been no takers for Johnson and the front office might have to couple him with another player to get the deal done. Don't expect that to stop the Braves from trying to send him away though.

The biggest surprise for this season is probably the amazing performance of veteran closer Jason Grilli. He has made most forget all about the legendary closer in the making Craig Kimbrel in the process. Unfortunately with two official veteran closers on the team, fans might want to expect Jim Johnson to be taking over closer duties after the trade deadline.
