The San Diego Padres have been slowly declining since a hot start to the first half of April. Injuries have been a big part of their problem throughout the season. This has caused them to be part of several trade rumors. Below are the five biggest rumors heading into the month of July.

5. This May Be Yet Another Lost Season For Josh Johnson

Johnson recently sounded optimistic following his latest setback of his return. Even though he was optimistic, Padres fans have to be concerned since his MRI results were inconclusive. They were inconclusive because, "It looks like a big mess in there with the scar tissue -- a big blob." He can remain as optimistic as he wants, but a big blob in his elbow doesn't sound good.

4. Brandon Morrow Could Return Soon

Morrow has been consistently playing catch the last few days, getting as far as 120 feet. A bullpen could be coming soon, which would then be followed by a rehab assignment. If his shoulder can hold up and avoid inflammation, he could be back in a few weeks. After having a great first month, Morrow could really help the Padres upon returning.

3. Wil Myers Could Be Held Out the Rest of the Year

After having surgery last month, Myers won't be cleared for baseball activities until at least mid-August. At that point, if the Padres aren't in the playoff picture, there would be no reason to rush the young outfielder back. If they are completely out of the playoff picture and Justin Upton is gone, they might as well shut down Myers and let him come back strong next year.

2. Ian Kennedy Will Be Traded

Starting pitching is always highly sought after at the trade deadline, and Kennedy is a perfect candidate. He is in the final year of his contract and could get the Padres several good prospects in return. This could easily end up being a win-win for the Padres and whichever team ends up with Kennedy.

Upton has been the center of trade rumors ever since the Padres started struggling. He is in the final year of his contract and is a great power-hitting outfielder that teams love. The Rays need another big bat to take all the pressure off Evan Longoria and the young Steven Souza. This could be just the move to help the Rays overtake the Yankees and Orioles in the AL East.
