With the team's recent skid, San Francisco definitely needs some help if they're going to stay in contention. Here are five players the Giants could target at the MLB trade deadline. 5. Daniel Murphy Jayne Kamin Oncea - USATODAY Sports The Giants have kicked the tires on Murphy in the past, so it'd make sense for them to target him again, especially if they can entice the Mets with something that will help them in their postseason hunt. Murphy has the versatility to play second base, third base, or even first base, and he could make for a great bench piece and protection against injuries for San Francisco down the second half of the season. 4. Mike Leake Getty Images Advertisement 4. Mike Leake Getty Images Even though Tim Hudson and Tim Lincecum may return from the DL, the Giants may be looking for rotation depth at the trade deadline, as Jake Peavy may not be a suitable answer and they may not want to rely on injured players coming back. If the team's struggles continue, they may not want to wait to make a move, and Leake is a pitcher that can help solidify the back of their rotation. 3. Gerardo Parra Getty Images 3. Gerardo Parra Getty Images Hunter Pence is back from the DL, but he has a history of injuries, and Nori Aoki isn't coming back any time soon, leaving the Giants searching for outfield help. Parra would definitely protect the Giants against another injury to Pence while also providing an upgrade over Angel Pagan and Gregor Blanco, which is why San Francisco reportedly has so much interest in Parra. 2. Aroldis Chapman Getty Images 2. Aroldis Chapman Getty Images Chapman may be available in a trade, and he would be a huge asset to any bullpen he joins. He would probably be an upgrade over current closer Santiago Casilla, but even if Chapman doesn't become San Francisco's closer, the team still needs a substantial amount of help from the left side in their bullpen, which is definitely an area where Chapman can help them out. 1. Cameron Maybin Dale Zanine - USATODAY Sports 1. Cameron Maybin Dale Zanine - USATODAY Sports Trading for Maybin seems like a long shot and something that could be quite expensive, but it's a dream scenario for the Giants considering the season he's having. Maybin is having an outstanding season as he enters the prime of his career, and he has a manageable salary the next three seasons. He's definitely an upgrade in center field over Pagan and Blanco and could become the San Francisco center fielder of the future if they can make a deal.
