With a little more than two weeks until the MLB trade deadline, trade talk and trade speculation is about to heat up. This is particularly true for the New York Mets, who desperately need to add some offensive help before the deadline. Here are five hypothetical trades that can help the Mets get the offensive boost they need.

5. Trade Jon Niese to Dodgers for Alex Guerrero

The Dodgers have expressed interest in Niese and may go after him if they can't land a frontline pitcher. Meanwhile, the Mets aren't excited to trade one of the current members of their rotation, but they may have to in order to help the offense. Guerrero could play third base, left field or come off the bench for the Mets, providing power and an offensive spark that New York desperately needs to stay in contention in the second half.

For over a year we've heard about how well the Mets and Cubs match up in a trade, exchanging pitching for a shortstop. The fact that these two teams may end up being the top competitors for the second Wild Card spot could prevent a deal from getting done. But both squads would theoretically fix a weakness by trading away an area where they have a surplus, so such a trade can't be counted out entirely.

Parra would be a solid addition for the Mets who could be acquired for Ynoa or a comparable prospect. Parra would make the Mets' outfield better defensively; he could play center field at times to give Juan Lagares a breather, and he's having a much better season offensively than any of the other Mets outfielders. Even if the Mets have to give up a little more than Ynoa, Parra would be a great addition at the deadline.

GM Sandy Alderson has suggested he would overpay for a player like Zobrist, and this is that trade, as Fulmer's value is way up and Reynolds is that major-league ready player that Oakland wants. Zobrist is a more productive hitter than Cuddyer at this point in the season, and he brings a great deal of versatility in case the Mets want to reconfigure their infield again. At this point, Zobrist may be the most likely player the Mets acquire.

Upton would be an absolute game changer for the Mets, but Alderson isn't trading one of his prized young pitchers for a rental, so this trade would take some creativity and multiple prospects to pull off. Trading for Upton would deal a major hit to the Mets' farm system, but if Alderson can pull it off without trading away one of their current starting pitchers, it would change the outlook of New York's season.
