Childbirth is one of life’s greatest miracles. The fact that women’s bodies have the ability to stretch and adapt to having another human inside of it is amazing, and that women can put up with the excruciating pain and risk involved with pregnancy is something that men tend to under-appreciate.

Occasionally though, the baby refuses to wait until mom is in the comfort of a hospital room with her doctor prepared to help deliver. That’s what happened last night during the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants game at Petco Park.

During the third inning of what eventually ended up being a 5-4 Padres victory, a woman in the stands at Petco Park had one of those babies that refused to cooperate, and decided that it was time to make his appearance whether everyone else was prepared or not. The baby was delivered at Petco Park in the Palm Court Plaza.

According to NBC San Diego, the woman gave birth to a son named Levi. MLB‘s Corey Brock spoke with the nurse who delivered young Levi, Donna Borowy.

“Usually, we transport zero and maybe six or seven people to the hospitals each game, depending on the crowd,” Borowy said. “It can be seizures, heart attacks but mostly it’s trip-and-falls and little boo-boos.”

Congratulations to the entire family!
