While the Royals find themselves four wins away from a World Series title, the offseason still lies just around the corner. With big names possibly on the move thanks to free agency, here are five players who should be sent packing this offseason.

While he had far fewer at-bats with the Royals, he hit only .167 with the Royals as opposed to his .221 average with the Braves. At 34, Gomes has seen his production decline over the past couple years. With better options for bench bats available, the Royals would be better off letting him go.

While Guthrie sported a respectable 8-8 record, he was unable to fend off opponents as he yielded a 5.95 ERA in 2015. Along with a high ERA, his age will be up there as he will turn 37 next season. With the Royals having a possible opportunity to sign younger aces such as Johnny Cueto, keeping an aging arm seems pointless.

3. Drew Butera

Even as a backup catcher, Butera underperformed throughout 2015 for the Royals. In 55 games, he failed to hit .200 and managed to drive in only five runs. The 2015 free agent class presents plenty of better options for a backup catcher, which should make releasing Butera a "no-brainer" move.

2. Omar Infante

Infante struggled mightily this season as he hit a mere .220 in 124 games. While in his prime at 33, the Royals could find a more productive option on the free agent market.

While Young went 11-6 this season with a 3.06 ERA, he won't be able to keep up those numbers over the next couple years. At 36, Young's numbers are bound to decline, which makes the idea of letting him go more reasonable.
