Sometimes it may be best to blow things up in order to build a better team. While they may not like to hear this, these five MLB teams are in desperate need of a rebuild this offseason.

The Rockies battled through another tough season in 2015. Despite their offense ranking in the top 10, their pitching gave up the most runs in the majors. The Rockies haven't been good for more than a couple years now and need to just tear it down and rebuild. Luckily for them they have two players in Carlos Gonzalez and Nolan Arenado who could fetch them a hefty return. Either of their returns could help them address multiple areas of need.

Despite their 81-80 finish, the Indians could use some help at multiple positions. Their starting rotation could use some improvements as well as their outfield. They have some pieces such as Brandon Moss and Carlos Santana that could get multiple players in return, but the Indians don't have the weapons to take this team to the next level. It would be best to take a step back and undergo a minor rebuild in order to be stronger in a year or two.

The Padres followed in the footsteps of the Miami Marlins of a couple years ago. They went out and spent a lot of money and made a lot of moves to bring in big-name talents. These kind of measures never guarantee success. While they may have big names, the results didn't pan out the way they hoped. San Diego would be better off if they built up their farm by cutting ties with big contracts such as Matt Kemp, Justin Upton and Ian Kennedy.

The Phillies had already started the rebuilding process back when they moved Jimmy Rollins last season. This season the Phillies continued their process as they moved more longtime-veterans in Chase Utley and Cole Hamels. Their best move would be to finish it through the moving of Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz. Philadelphia already has a young, promising rotation; now they just need to rejuvenate the aging outlets of their offense.

The Reds have already shown their decision to retool when they traded ace Johnny Cueto and outfielder Marlon Byrd. Cincinnati has big trade chips in Aroldis Chapman, Jay Bruce and possibly Todd Frazier. All three of these players would command a significant return that could not only help re-stock the Reds' farm, but possibly provide them with major league-ready prospects. The Reds may have the necessary chips, but will they move them all?
