5 Players the Texas Rangers Should Target In MLB Free Agency By Paige Wells PREV NEXT 5 Players the Texas Rangers Should Target In MLB Free Agency Getty Images Now that the baseball season has officially come to a close, all teams will start checking out their weaknesses and looking at free agents and other potential moves to fill in their roster gaps. Here is a list of five free agents the Texas Rangers should take a look at this offseason. 5. Mike Napoli Getty Images 5. Mike Napoli Getty Images Mike Napoli was a great add later on this season to give the Rangers' left-heavy lineup a good push in the right direction. As a free agent, it would be a good idea for Texas to keep not only his great bat, but the team chemistry as well. 4. Matt Wieters Getty Images 4. Matt Wieters Getty Images There's no doubt Texas needs a stable catcher with a heavy bat, and Matt Wieters is just the guy. Not only would he fill the much-needed catching position, but as a switch hitter he would also be a top add to the lineup. He is on the expensive side, but he would be well worth the money spent. 3. Jordan Zimmermann Getty Images 3. Jordan Zimmermann Getty Images With both Yovani Gallardo and Colby Lewis becoming free agents, and Yu Darvish expecting to return after the start of the 2016 season, the Rangers need a good pitching pick-up. That is, if they do not decide to keep Gallardo; Jordan Zimmermann would be a great add. He is about the same age, has similar stats and costs nearly the same as Gallardo and would be a good right-handed add to the rotation. 2. Joakim Soria Getty Image 2. The Rangers have a deep and pretty good bullpen, but they were chastised a bit this season for relying too much on Shawn Tolleson and not giving him enough of a break. Therefore, adding former Ranger Joakim Soria could be a good balance and allow the co-closers to gain more saves. 1. Yoenis Cespedes Getty Images 1. Yoenis Cespedes would be a good add to the outfield as a right-handed hitter. Plus, he is 30 years old and coming off a not too expensive contract, making him a smart pick-up as well.
