Although Anthony Gose's left-handed bat will come in handy and the Tigers may very well opt to use a pretty even platoon, one has to think it's possible that Cameron Maybin's experience could give him a slight advantage in the center field battle.

The battle for the backup catching position comes down to Bryan Holaday and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. It would be hard to go wrong either way, but Saltalamacchia's experience and ability to hit from the left side should give him a clear edge.

The Tigers seem to have five bullpen spots filled, leaving two jobs open for competition. Drew VerHagen, who posted a 2.05 ERA through 26.1 innings of work with the Tigers last season, should be a great candidate to fill one of those vacancies.

Although the Tigers have a number of other strong candidates such as Bruce Rondon, Shane Greene and Michael Fulmer, Bobby Parnell might be the best fit if he can return to his old form. Parnell was an excellent reliever as recently as 2013.

While he may face some competition from the likes of Buck Farmer, Matt Boyd, Greene and Fulmer, one would have to believe that Daniel Norris will be given every opportunity to win the fifth starter spot this spring.
