The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off of one of the organization’s better seasons since the early 1990s. After taking the division crown, they are surely hungry to get back to the postseason. However, these five issues could hold them back.

5. Leadoff Spot

The Jays sent Ben Revere to Washington for Drew Storen. Although that was a good get, it did vacate the leadoff spot. It's an important position in this lineup as the table setter for the big bats in the middle of the order. There is no natural leadoff option on the roster at this moment.

4. Bench

The Blue Jays right now find themselves with a weak bench. Beyond Justin Smoak and Chris Colabello, each of whom will platoon at first base, there isn't a real impact player. The rest of the bench is full of glove guys with very little hitting. Guys like Darwin Barney and Ezequiel Carrera don't wow anyone.

3. Left Field

The loss of Revere left a big gap in left field. A failed trade for Jay Bruce also kept the Jays from filling that hole. For now that leaves Michael Saunders as the guy penciled in. He missed most of last year with injuries and isn't too exciting. Look for prospect Dalton Pompey to be given a chance to take the job; he could be an answer at the top of the order too.

2. Second Base

The Jays do have an answer here eventually and that is Devon Travis. He is out after shoulder surgery and there is no timetable for his return, but there's speculation it could be in May. Until then, they are stuck with Ryan Goins or Barney. Even when Travis returns, there will be questions about his ability to stay healthy and produce like he did before his injury.

1. No True Ace

The default ace of the staff right now is Marcus Stroman. Although he is oozing with ace potential, he hasn't shown the consistency to be considered one yet. The loss of a top dog like David Price will surely come back to bite them. They don't have that shutdown guy right now.
