The best setup man in MLB is 6-foot-8 tall and weighs 265 pounds. No, he isn’t some larger Randy Johnson clone who pitches out of the bullpen — he is Dellin Betances. Betances has excited fans since joining the New York Yankees, coming in third for the AL Rookie of the Year Award in 2014. In 2015, he actually came in 14th for the AL Cy Young Award, given to the best overall pitcher of the year. With a bullpen that includes Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller and Betances, the pressure should be minimal, giving Betances the opportunity to prove why he is the best setup man in MLB going into the 2016 season.

Betances was an All-Star in 2014 as a rookie, and in 2015.

It might have been overlooked this last season by Yankees fans, but Betances had over 100 strikeouts for a second consecutive season. He is actually the first reliever in the Yankees’ history to have back-to-back 100-strikeout seasons.

Betances was awarded the AL The Sporting News (TSN) Relief Pitcher of the Year Award in 2014 and 2015. What is crazy about this is that includes closers like Andrew Miller, Huston Street and Wade Davis as well.

It’s hard to argue with Betances’ dominance when looking at his ERA and WHIP the last two seasons. In 2014, he sported a 1.40 ERA with a .78 WHIP. His 2015 wasn’t much worse either with his 1.50 ERA and 1.01 WHIP.
