Toronto Blue Jays' Chris Colabello Suspended 80 Games By MLB For PEDs

One of the most important pieces of the Toronto Blue Jays‘ 2015 run to the AL East Championship has been suspended for testing positive for PEDs.

First baseman Chris Colabello has been suspended 80 games by MLB for testing positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone.

Last season, Colabello hit .321 with a .367 OBP, 15 home runs and 54 RBIs in only 101 games. Those numbers have come crashing down in 2016 as he’s started the season 2-for-29 with nine strikeouts.

It shouldn’t be a huge loss for the Blue Jays as they already have someone who can man first base and has a .481 OBP in 18 plate appearances this season. They also picked up former New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners prospect Jesus Montero, who’s been lighting it up at Triple-A Buffalo through 15 games. There’s a good chance that Montero will take Colabello’s spot on the roster.
