St. Louis Cardinals' Carlos Martinez Being Sued For Allegedly Knowingly Spreading STDs

By Jason Fletcher

A report from TMZ has brought to light a potentially disgusting story from the world of baseball. St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez has been sued by an on-again, off-again girlfriend for negligent transmission of a sexual transmitted disease.

The lawsuit was filed in Miami and the woman alleges that she began to feel sick shortly after resuming a sexual relationship with Martinez last December. She later tested positive for multiple, non-life-threatening STDs.

Martinez “swore to God that he was not infected with any sexually transmitted disease” prior to the two having sex and refused to respond to the woman’s calls once she was diagnosed.

What Martinez’s attorney told TMZ: “I can tell you most assuredly the allegations are 100 percent false.”

The MLB announced Monday that it won’t be investigating Martinez.

Martinez is having a great start to the year on the field as he’s posted a 4-1 record with a 2.60 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in five starts.
