The St. Louis Cardinals are not having the type of season we’ve become accustomed to seeing from them, but they are still one of the better teams in the National League and a playoff contender. St. Louis has received plenty of strong performances this year and should be well represented at the 2016 MLB All-Star Game. Here are five Cardinals who have looked like All-Stars in 2016.

Carlos Martinez — The St. Louis pitching staff has been good not great, but Martinez has definitely been the leader of the group. He has seven wins and a 3.17 ERA, which should put him in the conversation for a spot on the All-Star team.

Brandon Moss — Moss has been a pleasant surprise for the Cardinals this year. He's having one of the best seasons of his career and has played multiple positions for St. Louis. His 15 home runs make him one of the top power hitters in the league this season.

Stephen Piscotty — Piscotty has picked up right where he left off last season and is having an All-Star caliber year. He's been a steady and consistent player for the Cardinals this year and should be considered for a reserve role on the All-Star team.

Aledmys Diaz — Diaz has practically come out of nowhere to become one of the best shortstops in baseball. He's hitting over .300 with eight home runs and has forced the Cardinals to move Jhonny Peralta to third base because of his All-Star performance.

Matt Carpenter — Carpenter may be having the best year of his career, and that's saying something. He's had to switch positions, but it's had no impact on his offense. Carpenter has a .970 OPS, which is clearly going to make him an All-Star in 2016.
