For all intents and purposes, the 2016 season is over for the Los Angeles Angels and has been for quite some time. It’s only a matter of time until the Angels start looking to trade away several players in hopes of rebuilding their farm system, which most consider to be among the worst in baseball. The Angels have the potential to have quite a fire sale this summer, and here are five players who could be involved in trades.

Jered Weaver — This is a tough sell, as Weaver is not having a good season, but he will be a free agent after 2016, so he's a possible trade chip. Weaver has enough of a track record to possibly be attractive for a team that's desperate for rotation depth.

Joe Smith — Smith is on the DL but should be back in time to be traded before the deadline. He's been one of the most consistent setup men in baseball over several years and should garner plenty of interest from contending teams looking for bullpen help.

Geovany Soto — Soto is on the DL, but he's expected to be back in early July, which is enough time to showcase him for other teams. Before the injury, Soto was having one of the best seasons of his career. There are several teams that could use a veteran catcher.

Yunel Escobar — Escobar is a near-lock to get traded, as teams have already expressed interest in him. He'll be a free agent this offseason, and he's putting up good numbers offensively. Someone will make the Angels a substantial offer to acquire Escobar.

Mike Trout — This would be controversial, but the Angels could get a king's ransom if they trade Trout. The Angels could add multiple high-level prospects who would reshape their farm system and jump-start the organization's rebuilding process in a big way.
