Cardinals' Stephen Piscotty Gets Hit By Cubs Throws Three Times In One Inning — Leaves Game With Injury

By Timothy Downs

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty has been on a roller coaster ride over the last few days.

Just a day after signing a six-year contract extension worth $33.5 million, Piscotty, 26, left St. Louis’ showdown with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday after getting hit by three Cubs throws in one inning.

First, he was hit in the elbow by a Jake Arrieta pitch to get on base. Next, he was hit by Cubs catcher Wilson Contreras as he took second base thanks to an Arrieta wild pitch.

Finally, Piscotty got hit in the head by Javier Baez‘s throw while sliding into home, which resulted in a contusion and knocked him out of action.

Thankfully, Piscotty is not currently expected to miss any time.
