By Timothy Downs

The Seattle Mariners honored Ken Griffey Jr. with a statue outside Safeco Field on Thursday.

The MLB Hall of Famer began his career with the Mariners as a 19-year-old way back in 1989, and ultimately rejoined Seattle in 2009 and retired as a Mariner in 2010.

The legendary slugger hit 417 of his 630 career home runs (6th all time) in a Mariners uniform, and won 10 gold gloves in the Emerald City.
