Many MLB players have come up with ways to turn an out into getting on base, but this sliding technique from Houston Astros rookie sensation Yuli Gurriel is one of the best out there.

When the relay throw arrives from center field, Texas Rangers infielder Rougned Odor goes to apply the tag at the typical sliding place into second to get nothing but air.

Purists may not like this new instant replay version of baseball, but finding new ways to liven things up should be welcomed with open arms by this archaic sport.

There’ve been some exciting plays already in this young season, and a lot of that has to do with MLB turning away from its stuck-in-the-mud mentality of old.
