Atlanta Braves' Jace Peterson Leaps Into Foul Ball Net to Make Outstanding Catch

By Anthony Blake

The foul ball nets behind home plate in MLB ballparks are a necessary evil in today’s safety-first culture, but they don’t usually factor into the play on the field.

However, this catch by Atlanta Braves first baseman Jace Peterson used those cumbersome nets to his advantage.

Net work.

This almost looked like a trick catch of some sort, where the player leaps from a long distance and times the catch in order to fall perfectly into the net as a cushion.

Maybe the ugly netting looked at as a hindrance to spectators will gain another use as assistance to players making catches in foul territory.
