Boston Red Sox Strike Out 20 Texas Rangers to Tie MLB Record in Pitching Clinic

Once upon a time, Roger Clemens struck out 20 batters himself when wearing a Boston Red Sox uniform, but these days pitchers aren’t used in that fashion nearly as often.

But that doesn’t prevent epic strikeout performances from taking place – it just means that they typically require some help to seal the deal.

Breezy in Boston? 20 Ks will do that.

The Texas Rangers were fanning the crowd with their swings and misses on Thursday night, as 20 of them went to the plate and sat down after three strikes.

This showing by the Boston pitching staff tied a MLB record for strikeouts, with Drew Pomeranz (11), Heath Hembree (2), Robby Scott (1), and Matt Barnes (2) combining for 16 before Craig Kimbrel took up the cause with four Ks of his own in the ninth inning.
