During the eighth inning of a game that was far out of reach, Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was in a playful mood.
When told to get back in the on-deck circle by second base umpire Gerry Davis, Beltre instead moved the on-deck circle to his preferred location, resulting in his ejection.
And after the 22-10 loss to the Miami Marlins had concluded, Beltre was justifiably baffled as to what got him thrown out of the game.
As was his manager, Jeff Banister.
This bizarre situation really was more laugh-worthy than angering, but umpires thinking their authority rules all is nothing new in MLB.
