Derek Jeter Leads Group Buying Miami Marlins from Jeffrey Loria for $1.2 Billion

By Anthony Blake

After months of rumors, the sale of the Miami Marlins to an investment group publicly led by Derek Jeter has been agreed upon in principle from current owner Jeffrey Loria.

The final sale price is said to be $1.2 billion, with New York venture capitalist Bruce Sherman putting up the bulk of the dough.

Though the deal has yet to be finalized, there’s no turning back now for MLB, with one of its worst owners in Loria finally getting out of the way.

Hopefully this means the people of Miami will get the contender they were promised when Loria duped the taxpayers into footing the bill for the team’s new stadium.
