It’s interesting to look at what athletes do after retiring from sports- Ricardo Arona and Igor Vovchanchyn basically sailed off into the sunset, while a significant number of players get into serious financial difficulty.
Pro sports involves a large number of people working in a variety of roles to make events happen for the viewers. So what happens when an entire league closes?
Kei Grant was the former announcer for Pride. You would know him as the announcer that isn’t the screaming Pride lady (that would be Lenne Hardt). You probably know his voice but not his face- here’s him introducing Pride titans Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Wanderlei Silva:
