The UFC interim welterweight championship is on the line tonight, as Nick Diaz takes on Carlos Condit for the right to fight Georges St. Pierre later this year.  Here’s a look at the current betting lines:

Odds from BetUS Sportsbook.  Accurate as of 0830 February 4, 2012

Nick Diaz (-220) vs Carlos Condit (+175)
Pick: Condit
Condit is the more well-rounded fighter.  Condit’s wrestling and ground and pound attack should do enough to win this fight.  Diaz has great boxing and BJJ, but gets taken down too often.

Fabricio Werdum (-165) vs Roy Nelson (+135)
Pick: Werdum
Werdum is generally better everywhere-Nelson is a great grappler, but he is more a positional guy while Werdum is elite ADCC level.  Werdum has trouble against the really good strikers with takedown defence.  Roy Nelson isn’t on that level.

Josh Koscheck (-260) vs Mike Pierce (+200)
Pick: Koscheck
Koscheck should win this as long as he doesn’t try to turn it into some sort of firefight.

Renan Barao (-220) vs Scott Jorgensen (+175)
Pick: Barao
At 1st glance, Jorgensen seems like the pick.  However, Barao is a rapidly rising fighter who impressively beat Brad Pickett, who has a similar style to Jorgensen.

Ed Herman (-280) vs Clifford Starks (+210)
Pick: Herman
Herman’s UFC run has been plagued by layoffs, but he should win this one.  Starks needs to get takedowns and control this fight, and Herman should have the takedown defence to stop him.

Dustin Poirier (-500) vs Max Holloway (+350)
Pick: Poirier
Poirier is simply way too much for Holloway.  Poirier was to fight Erik Koch in a #1 contenders match.  Holloway has 4 pro fights and has not fought anyone close to Poirier’s level.

Matt Riddle (-400) vs Henry Martinez (+300)
Pick: Riddle
Riddle is a lot bigger than Martinez, and will implement a wrestling based gameplan to win this.

Edwin Figueroa (-135) vs Alex Caceres (+105)
Pick: Bruce Leeroy
Caceres beat Cole Escovedo in his last fight.  Figueroa hasn’t been good in his UFC run.

Matt Brown (-350) vs Chris Cope (+250)
Pick: Brown
Brown via experience.

Stephen Thompson (-310) vs Dan Stittgen (+230)
Pick: Thompson
Thompson is supposed to be one of the next big prospects, with a long undefeated record.  This fight will demonstrate if his wrestilng/ground game is at the UFC level.

Rafael Natal (-200) vs Michael Kuiper (+160)
Pick: Natal
At this point, Natal should take this fight.  Kuiper’s advantage is his power in the standup game, but Natal is better technically.  Natal is more well-rounded and should pick up the win here.
