Nostalgia: Showtime presents Kimbo Slice et al. in the worst promo ever

At one point, Showtime and EliteXC had a highly marketable fighter by the name of Kimbo Slice.  Showtime also runs boxing events, and at the time of Slice’s peak, a boxer named Samuel Peter was doing well, having beaten James Toney twice and being in line to fight the Klitschko brothers.

So of course, Showtime produces what is possibly the worst promo ever, featuring Slice, Peter, and a lot of ring girls.  How could this formula go wrong?  Well, just watch:

Rafael Dos Anjos Pulls Out of UFC 196 vs. Conor McGregor

A fight that many looked at as possibly the biggest MMA fight of 2016 looks like it is going to have to wait. According to multiple reports including MMAFighting Rafael dos Anjos has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 196 main event bout against Conor McGregor due to injury. The injury being reported is a broken foot.

Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock Highlights

The third fight between Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie really didn’t clear anything up. The first time these two met was in the earliest days of MMA at UFC 1. In that fight Gracie forced Shamrock to submit to a rear-naked-choke less than one minute into the fight. In the rematch at UFC 5 the two fought to a draw after 36 minutes. The results of those two fights which took place more than 20 years ago have never sat well with Shamrock and that’s why he always pined for a third fight against Gracie. After Friday night it’s safe to suspect Shamrock will want a fourth fight.

BJ Penn Return to UFC Being Held Up By Assault Charge

As it stands BJ Penn’s return to MMA will be delayed a little longer. The former UFC champion was scheduled to come out of retirement and fight at UFC 197 in April but today the UFC released a statement concerning that return. It all stems from an assault charge Penn received last year.
