Georges St. Pierre Back To Full-Time Training

By Chris Shelton

One of the best fighters, pound for pound, in the world is on a path to return to the Octagon in November.

Georges St. Pierre has finally returned to full-time training in the wake of a devastating acl injury in his knee. He suffered the setback while training for top welterweight contender, Nick Diaz. Diaz pushed and prodded GSP.

During the course of training camp, the welterweight champ tore ligaments in his knee.

“I’m back in Montreal and full-time training! Already tried a few kicks – right knee is super strong…,” St-Pierre wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

A healthy GSP will face current interim title holder, Carlos Condit. The winner will unify the welterweight belts. Condit defeated Nick Diaz to garner the interim title. He won the interim title amid controversy. Some believe that Diaz did enough to secure a victory.

Once Diaz was suspended for a year, Condit has decided not to take another fight. Subsequently, new challengers have risen. Martin Kampmann and Johny Hendricks have had an impressive run and are next in line.

St. Pierre has been atop the division for a long time. His resume is impressive. He has mowed through the division. He is truly one of the greats,

It is good to see GSP come back and compete at a high level. He is a class act.

Let’s see if GSP can come back at the same level.
