UFC News: Miguel Torres Cut From The UFC Again
Paul Abell-US PRESSWIRE

Miguel Torres has been cut from the UFC again. This time it’s because of what happened  inside the octagon. The following statement was posted by Torres on his website Migueltorresmma.com:

I am writing this letter to inform you that as a result of my last loss, I was cut from the UFC. My next fight will be in Hammond, Indiana for Titan Fighting Championship on November the 2nd.  I am excited to continue fighting, to regain my focus and to get back to what made me a champion.

A special thank you to my manager, Glenn Robinson, my trainer, Firas Zahabi, my training partners, and all the staff at the UFC. I have dedicated my whole life to mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. From teaching, to training, and fighting from the lowest to the highest levels, my passion in life is to be the best that I can be. Until November 2nd…

This is the second time Miguel Torres has been cut from the UFC. He was cut in December of last year after posting a rape joke on his Twitter account. UFC president Dana White allowed him to join the promotion again about a month later.

It is surprising to me that Torres was cut this soon. He was only given one fight after being cut the second time, in which he lost by knockout in the first round. The part that gets me is that before being cut in December he was 2-1 while in the UFC. Torres is also a former WEC bantamweight champion.

Maybe Dana White has a strict policy for second chances. It’s not often that you see a former world champion being cut after a 2-2 record.

In his letter to his supporters, Torres stated that he has signed with Titan FC and will be fighting on November 2nd. Torres is only 31 years old and should have a lot of fighting ahead of him yet. Will he be able to earn a third chance with the UFC?

I honestly don’t see it happening.

Dana White is very strict and usually doesn’t give fighters second chances, so a third is highly unlikely. Hopefully Torres will be able to have success in his MMA career, outside of the UFC.
