The UFC water cooler talk is heating up.
UFC rumors state that Dan Henderson may be hurt. Fans and media have been circulating the rumor, but no one has been able to confirm or deny the it
Henderson did tweet about the situation, though:
“Just got done with a great training session with the boys. @CyrilleDiabate @tarecfighter @heathlsims @RFBJJ @rockholdMMA. Headed to the house to get worked on by @msmariahv to finish of the day happy.”
I’m not sure that I buy cryptic tweets, but at this point, that’s all that we have to work with.
Well, Dana White will settle the score today at 1 p.m.
He’s expected to announce whether Henderson is hurt or ready to precede in less than an hour.
Losing Henderson would be a huge blow to UFC 151. With such a high profile main event, White and the UFC brass went light on the co-main event and the rest of the card.
Jake Ellenberger vs. Jay Hieron isn’t selling pay-per-views. The rest of the card is lacking in star power as well.
So White has two options if Henderson is hurt.
He can take a huge loss on the card and reschedule Henderson vs. Jones on a different card on a later date, or he can ask Chael Sonnen or Lyoto Machida to fight Jones on short notice.
Neither are great options because both would cost a lot of money.
White would have to pony up and pay either Sonnen or Machida gobs of money on such short notice.
White probably promised Jones to advertisers. If Henderson is hurt, this is a terrible development for the UFC.
