UFC Rankings: My Top Five P4P Fighters As Of Today

By Colin Barton

There is always discussion as to who are the best pound for pound fighters in the world. I am going to list the top 5 fighters, who in my opinion are the best in the world. All of them currently fighting in the UFC. Here are my UFC Rankings.

1. Anderson Silva– Anderson Silva is without a doubt the best mixed martial arts in the world. He has broken the UFC record for most title defenses and has held the title for over five years now. Silva will probably be considered the most dominant martial artist in the world for a long time. No one in the UFC has even came close to the success that Silva has had whilst in the Octagon.Silva has destroyed many top contenders, such as Rich Franklin,Demian Maia, Vitor Belfort and many others.

2.Jose Aldo-Aldo is currently riding a 13 fight win-streak. He is the former WEC featherweight champion and the current UFC featherweight champion, he has only lost one fight in his professional MMA career. Some of Aldo’s most notable wins come over opponents like Urijah Faber, Mark Hominick, Chad Mendes and Kenny Florian. Jose Aldo is among some of the best strikers in the world, he has amazing speed and is as explosive as anyone in the UFC. Look for Aldo to continue his reign as the featherweight champion.

3.Georges St-Pierre– GSP is the current six-time defending UFC welterweight champion. He is regarded as one of the best wrestlers in UFC history. He might not be the most exciting fighter to watch, but his style gets the job done and is amazing to watch if you understand what’s going on. GSP has dominated the welterweight division since 2007, with wins over veteran fighters such as B.J Penn, Matt Hughes, Jon Fitch and Josh Koscheck. GSP could be higher on the list, but he hasn’t fought in well over a year. A win over Carlos Condit in November will move him to number 2.

4. Chael Sonnen– This choice might come as a surprise to most fans because Sonnen has yet to win a UFC title. Although it appears that his days at middleweight are over, I think that 205 could be the right fit for Sonnen. Sonnen has solid stand-up and some very powerful wrestling skills, that could make for a good match-up against Jon Jones. I honestly think that If Sonnen fights Jones,he will win.  It’s a match-up that heavily favors Sonnen in my opinion.

5.Benson Henderson– Henderson is only a 2 time defending lightweight champion, but I feel that his run as champion will be a long one.He has notable wins over Frankie Edgar, Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller. Henderson has a unique style that is very balanced, he has powerful strikes and a good ground game to compliment his stand-up. Look for Henderson to continue his winning streak in the lightweight division.
