UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo escaped serious injury after getting into a vehicular accident this past weekend.
According to a report by Mauricio Deho of UOL Esporte, Aldo was driving home when a vehicle collided with his motorcycle. Aldo also confirmed Deho that only had scratches on his knee, thigh and foot, which is also swollen.
Despite the accident, the main event featherweight title match between Aldo and former UFC Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, who is replacing the injured Erik Koch, is still on track for UFC 153, which takes place Oct. 13.
If Aldo had pulled out due to injury, this would not only once again change the main event for UFC 153, but also would have been the second time Aldo pulled out of an event in 2012 as he was originally supposed to fight Koch at UFC 149.
It would have also added to the several fight cards that have changed in 2012 due to fighter injury.
