As former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort gets ready for his match with current title holder Jon Jones at UFC 152, it was only three years ago when Belfort was making his second UFC comeback. He would return at UFC 103 to face former middleweight champion Rich Franklin.
Belfort had attained a 6-2 record during his time away from the octagon and was ready to climb back to the top, only this time it would be in the UFC 185 pound division. During his time away attained six victories in the Pride, Affliction and Cage Rage organizations and captured the Cage Rage Light Heavyweight championship.
Franklin, who was originally supposed to face Dan Henderson in a rematch at UFC 103 until the UFC changed it, was coming off of a huge win over Wanderlei Silva at UFC 99.,
The fight began with both fighters trading few shots with each other. Belfort managed to avoid some of Franklin’s punches.
Near the 2 minute mark, Belfort caught Franklin with a combination of a jab, left hook and right hook to drop Franklin. After delivering a couple of more shots to Franklin, Belfort celebrated in victory, then went to help his fallen foe.
