UFC on Fuel TV: Stefan Struve vs. Stipe Miocic Preview

A great heavyweight match up is set to take place this weekend between Stefan Struve and Stipe Miocic at UFC on Fuel TV.  Both of these fighters are coming off impressive wins, which should make their bout all the more entertaining.  It will be a great show for the fans because both of these fighters possess dynamic striking skills.

Stefan Struve comes into this fight with an overall record of 24-5.  In his last fight, Struve showed that a versatile attack by submitting Lavar Johnson via armbar in the first round.  Not only is Struve an excellent kick boxer, but his length makes him an excellent grappler that can end the night for any fighter who tries to take it to the ground.

Struve also has notable wins over Dave Herman, Pat Berry, Christian Morecraft, and Paul Buentello.  He is one of the tallest fighters in the UFC, standing 6’11 with an incredible 84.5 inch reach.  He will be looking to put a run together with a win over Miocic, which puts him right in the mix for a title shot.

Stipe Miocic comes into this fight undefeated with a record of 9-0.  He is coming off an impressive win over Shane Del Rosario; a fight that saw Miocic use his polished striking skills to earn a TKO in the second round.  He also has notable wins over Phil De Fries and Joey Beltran, which is quite impressive for being so green in the sport.

Miocic is also another tall fight in the UFC heavyweight division, standing in at 6’4 with an 80 inch reach.  A win over Struve solidifies his status as being a legitimate contender in the heavyweight division, which is currently being reigned by Junior Dos Santos.

This fight should be exciting from start to finish because both fighters possess a well-polished stand up game.  Struve possess the advantage in reach and in submission offense, and he may want to take this fight to the ground in order to lock up a submission.

For Miocic, he comes into this fight with the power advantage, and it will be interesting to see if he can land a shot on Struve, who has shown in the past the he is prone to getting hit.  Regardless of the outcome, fans should expect a war that has fight of the night written all over it.
