It was a great straight right punch that landed on Johnson that sent him backyard, and Castillo was on him throwing down some viscous ground and pound. Castillo would even almost lock up an arm triangle that looked to be extremely tight. Johnson survived, however, and Johnson looked like he was ready for round two.
It seemed like Johnson weathered the early storm from Castillo in the first because he came out aggressive in the second round. Danny would throw a leg kick and Johnson countered with a short left that rocked Castillo, allowing Johnson to finish it up with punches and the ref was forced to step in.
What an impressive win for Michael Johnson. A remarkable thing about this fight for Johnson was his patience and his ability to fight back from adversity. Many have praised Johnson as being the next big thing in the lightweight division, and this fight certainly warrants him a top contender in this highly competitive lightweight division.
Michael Johnson is now on a three fight winning streak, and he puts himself in to contention at challenging the elite in the lightweight division. Johnson certainly has the power to hang with any fighter in this division, and this fight with Castillo was certainly a testament to that.
