Andeson Silva is set to take on Stephan Bonnar this weekend for UFC 153 in what should be an interesting fight with a lot of implications for the winner.  This fight will headline the card, which is set to go down this Saturday (October 13, 2012).

This will be the third time Anderson Silva has made his way to the light heavyweight division.  He dispatched James Irvin and Forrest Griffin with relative ease, and he will be looking to make it 3-0 when he takes on Bonnar.  Silva is the greatest fighter to ever compete in mma.  The way he moves and alludes opponent’s punches is down right scary.

Couple this with his pinpoint striking and dynamic grappling skills, and you have the greatest fighter ever.  Still, Silva needs to be careful with Bonnar because anything can happen in the UFC.  Just ask George St. Pierre when he fought Matt Serra.  Serra was one of the biggest underdogs in UFC history, yet he managed to shock the world and score a TKO over the dominant GSP.

Silva will need to be on his game in order to avoid the same thing.  Stephan Bonnar has comparable striking skills and has yet to be finished in his career.  He also has some great jiu jitsu skills and can submit opponents when he is on top.  Many have questioned this match up going in, but this fight should be entertaining regardless of the outcome.

Stephan Bonnar has the chance to score one of the biggest upsets in the sport of mma.  He hasn’t competed for a title nor has he gained top 5 status in the light heavyweight division, but he doesn’t care.  If he can beat the best pound for pound fighter in the game, then it would be a tremendous feather in his cap and a great way to close the book on his mma career.  Bonnar has nothing to lose in this fight, which makes him dangerous come fight time.
